Terms & conditions

The terms on which Knight Detailing carries out work. If anything is unclear, please ask before booking — call 07883 585878.

Quotations

All quotations are given in good faith, based on the information provided about the vehicle and, where possible, a physical inspection. Because the condition of a vehicle can only be fully assessed once work begins, quotes are usually given as a range and may be revised if the vehicle differs from the description given. Any change will always be discussed and agreed with you before further work is carried out.

Quotations are valid for 30 days.

Bookings and deposits

A booking is confirmed once a date has been agreed. For larger jobs such as paint correction, ceramic coating or paint protection film, a deposit may be requested to secure the booking.

Please allow flexibility on timings. Detailing is not a job that can be rushed, and while every effort is made to work to the agreed schedule, the time required can change with the condition of the vehicle and the weather.

Cancellations

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may result in the loss of any deposit paid, as the time reserved for your vehicle is unlikely to be filled at short notice.

Access, power and water

For mobile work, please ensure there is safe, legal and reasonable access to the vehicle, along with space to work around it. Where a service requires mains power or water, this should be available at the location; please let me know in advance if it is not, so that arrangements can be made.

Machine polishing, ceramic coatings and paint protection film must be carried out indoors in a controlled environment. If indoor space is not available at your location, secure unit space can be arranged.

Vehicle condition and pre-existing damage

Vehicles are inspected before work commences and any existing damage noted. Knight Detailing cannot accept liability for pre-existing defects, damage or faults, including but not limited to failing lacquer, previous poor paint repairs, thin or previously polished paint, loose or damaged trim, stone chips, dents, worn or torn upholstery, or electrical and mechanical faults.

Some defects only become visible once a vehicle has been thoroughly cleaned or polished. Where this happens, you will be informed and the best course of action discussed before continuing.

Please remove all personal belongings from the vehicle before work begins. No responsibility can be accepted for items left in the vehicle.

Results

Every effort is made to achieve the best possible result for your vehicle. However, not all defects can be removed safely. Deep scratches that have penetrated the clear coat, etching, staining, odours, and wear to leather, fabric and trim may only be improved rather than eliminated. Paint depth is monitored throughout any correction work and the safety of your paint always takes priority over chasing a perfect finish.

Coatings and aftercare

Ceramic coatings and other protection products are applied in line with manufacturer guidance and require a curing period, during which the vehicle must be kept dry and unwashed. Aftercare advice is given on completion and must be followed for the protection to perform as intended.

Durability claims relate to the manufacturer's stated performance and depend on how the vehicle is used, stored and maintained. Coatings applied to vehicles that are subsequently washed with harsh chemicals, automatic car washes or abrasive methods are not covered.

Payment

Payment is due on completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash. Knight Detailing is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged.

Insurance and liability

Knight Detailing holds motor trade and public liability insurance. Liability is limited to the value of the work carried out. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Photography

Photographs of vehicles worked on may be used on this website and on social media. Registration plates are obscured where practical. If you would prefer your vehicle not to be photographed or shared, simply let me know and your wishes will be respected.
